Burny Crispy Owie Pain

Today my class had our bi-annual (is that the right word for every two years?) 50/50 carwash. It was technically free, but we accepted donations, which nearly everyone made. The money is split 50/50 with half going to our end of summer celebration and half going to charity (UPDATE: The kids decided to donate to two differant charities since we raised so much money. We will be adopting a tiger from WWF and donating $25 to Little Angels, a home for severely disabled children and young adults. they picked both charities themselves!). We raised $100 (including Miss Tina’s generous donation of $30 for a car wash that left both dirt and water spots on my car) in a car wash that was supposed to go from 1-3. We washed our first car at 12:30. We finished our last car at 4:00.

In other news my skin is normally this color.

Now it is this color.

In case your color is off, in the summer I tend to avoid the sun and am a nice truly healthy shade of mid beige. While my arms are currently a brown with pink undertones, at the moment by chest and back are pink-red. I don’t QUITE resemble a lobster yet, but another day of sun and I will. There’s a reason you’re supposed to reapply sunscreen every two hours, even if the bottle says “Sport” “Waterproof” and “All day protection”. Tina is burny-crispy :(

It's A Funny Story

So one of my coworkers has a daughter who's in my class. I couldn't stop myself from texting her some funny things the daughter did this week and now I want to share those texts with you...

-She just told me she doesn't like anything with sugar no candy or cookies and that grapefruit with sugar is to sweet, she likes it with salt :) [this is the kid who asks me for a freeze pop almost every day]
-We learned that Jesus is the bread of life and then she asked me if i eat bread. I told her i do and she goes "then you eat flash" [somehow she got the idea that I don't eat "flesh" even though I try to keep it simple for them and say meat]
-she would like to know (asked as she eats grapefruit with her spoon) why you didn't pack her a spoon today

this is the same kid who made me a card when my dad passed away a few years ago. She knows I like to chew gum, so she thought she would make me feel better by taping a gum ball inside the card! She was five at the time, so her mom and I both said no when she asked if she could go to the funeral, but it was pretty adorable anyway.

Nappy time

Last night I went to bed at about four thirty this morning. At eight fifty this morning, my phone rang. As I was still very much asleep, I did not look at my caller ID and so I think I answered it thusly, “Ehhugh”. It was my boss. Head, meet wall. Repeatedly. I am clearly a moron. So she asks me if I want to come in early. Since I have never said no to extra hours, I said “Sure, how early?” “How soon can you get here?” she asks me. I wanted to say that I could get there at one forty five and not a second earlier, but that’s not real helpful for her. So up I got. I punched in at nine twenty three. By ten I desperately wanted a nap. Thank goodness I stupidly assumed it would be as nice today as it was yesterday when I was hot in a long skirt and tank top. I wore a knee length dress with shorts beneath for modesty. I live in the Midwest. I should have worn full length jeans, it was freezing. But at least I stayed awake right? Long story short in the next two weeks I will be working sixty three and a half hours when I normally work forty in two weeks. I guess its good practice for summer break when I double my hours. I just realized that it’s like five weeks away.
And Sarah? Yes you are that friend!
